ABOUT US

The Florida A&M Austin alumni chapter was founded in 2013 by a group of dedicated Rattlers who wanted to stay connected to their alma mater and give back to their community. Since then, our chapter has grown in size and impact, becoming a vital part of the Austin area's social and cultural fabric.

Over the years, we have organized numerous events and initiatives that have benefited both our members and the wider community. From scholarship fundraisers to networking events to community service projects, we have worked tirelessly to uphold the values of Florida A&M University and make a positive difference in the lives of those around us.

Today, our chapter continues to thrive, thanks to the hard work and dedication of our members. We remain committed to promoting the legacy of Florida A&M University and fostering a strong sense of community among our fellow Rattlers in Austin and beyond.

HISTORY

With it’s rapid growing population and exclusivity to the Tech world, Rattlers from this part of central Texas have mobilized and planned to build a bigger and stronger hold in the community. With social media and networking, Rattlers have rallied and Fellowship to model “Excellence with Caring”.

The ATX Rattlers have been able to re-establish formal Good standing, recruiting Rattlers through the metro with both social and community affairs.

ATX Rattlers have been incorporated in several community college fairs, “Kickback for Kids” shoe drive(Summer 2019), and the inaugural “FAMU House” at the world renowned SXSW Conference and Festival supporting the education portion(2019).

With support of nearby San Antonio and Houston chapters, the FAMU house was the first University to showcase in the Festival history. It provided an informational recruiting method, Guided panel discussions on current events of HBCUs and Technology, and created a social atmosphere for everyone. Located at the Greater Austin Black Chamber of Commerce, FAMU House also greeted the Rattler Battle of The Brains Team for hospitality and helped support them as they took home 1st place. ATX Rattlers look to Bragg differently as they look to make FAMU House the marquee event of the future.

Greater Austin Alumni look to spread their awareness to youth interested in HBCUs, Community Service and presence in the City. We always look to Strike, Strike & Strike Again!
